A wine by any other name...
Hi all my brides to be:
Tonight we talk wine. That wonderful full-bodied vino that is at home by a fire, served chilled at an engagement reception or partnered with fruit, cheese or dessert at a family get together or wedding. Wine can be paired with so many things and comes in so many notes of flavor and colors.
Until next time, "Love, Laughter, Happily Ever After!"

What would make any wine-loving couple more vino-gretio than a wine themed engagement party or wedding reception? Wine favors including stainless steel spreader with wine cork handle, wine bottle tea lights and chrome grape inspired wine stoppers giving any intimate soiree a feeling of warmth and rustisicity. Or if you prefer to give your guests a bottle of your hand-named vintage, decorate the bottle with a personalized label.
Let the warmth of your love flow!
Until next time, "Love, Laughter, Happily Ever After!"

Hi All My Brides to Be:
Fall is in the air so I am as giddy as a school girl! When you think of Fall does it conjure up images of hot coco and snuggling by the fire? Or do you think more of the beautiful Fall leaves and the crisp clean air? One thing that is wonderful about Fall is weddings. Not only do you get to decorate in the beatiful tones or deep amber, goldenrode and rich browns, you also get to use nature as a decorating inspiration.
So Sweet Weddings has many Fall favors for all our Autumn brides.

How the Fortune Cookie got it's name
Hi all my Brides to be:
Fortune cookies, those delicate folded cookies that give the promise of good fortune. It is believed that fortune cookies originated in a small village in Kyoto, Japan where there is a Japanese temple tradition of random fortunes. People who visit these temples, make a small offering and then randomly select a small scroll (called an omikuji) that hopfully contains a good fortune. However these fortunes can be either good or bad in nature. Americans, always looking to turn all fortunes into good, love to add the words, "'in bed" to whatever fortune they receive. If nothing else, this incites smiles all around.
According to Wikipedia around World War II, the cookies were known as "fortune tea cakes", then later known as the "fortune cooky" and finally the cookies were generally called by the English term "fortune cookie" being American in orgin as the term can have odd translations into other languages. There are many translations of the name in Chinese for example; "good luck label cookie", "lucky label-words cookie", "divining cookie" and one of my personal favorites, "happiness biscuit".
There are now some 3 billion fortune cookies made in the world and most are consumed by Americans. Also, the fortune cookie's shape being one that is rather well know has branched out into other markets. You can find them in the toy aisle in the shape of a magic eight ball, in the pet section as a stuffed dog toy and oh so fashionable as jewelry in the jewelry department.
Bridal favorites are the ones you can find at So Sweet Weddings. They are the best fortune cookies to find as they are drizzled in your choice of chocolate or caramel, a large variety of sprinkles for every holiday and occassion and come with their own personal fortune. We even have ones that are the size of a football. Now that's what I call luck!! Could you ask for anything more from a cookie? I think not or maybe can I have some more.
Be sure to check out all of our chocolate covered fortune cookies as well as our other chocolate covered favors.
Bride & Groom Fortune Cookies Fortune Cookies fit for the bride and groom, the wedding reception or a bridal shower. And don't forget the baby shower. You know what they say, first comes love, then comes marriage....
Lil' Angels Giant Fortune Cookie
And for the "big daddy" of all fortune cookies, our 1 pound football sized fortune cookie. Perfect for a groom that is a football fan. What man can resist chocolate and football?

Elephants - Large, Lovely and Lucky!
Hi All My Brides to Be ~
Did you know that elephants have always been know as sacred animals in the Far East. They are used in Asian, East Indian and African weddings usually to transport the groom to the ceremony. In India, this procession is known as the baraat. Not only are these large pachyderms majestic in splendor (they are the largest mammals to walk the earth), in weddings they signify power, strength and patience. They are also considered a symbol of wisdom and dignity because of their high intelligence and life span. This is particulary true of white elephants who are even more revered. They are also associated with royalty and to this day are used to carry royal figures. A fun piece of trivia, elephants have the best memory of all of the world's creatures. This is where the phrase. "memory like an elephant" comes from. Horses have the second best memories in the animal kingdom.
So whether you want to celebrate your heritage, add a little spice to your reception or decorate your venue with some exotic flare, So Sweet Weddings carries a wide variety of lucky elephants, even the white ones.

Band of Merry Groomsmen
Hi all my brides to be:
Nowadays a groomsmen's responsibilities are far less lethal and tend to involve making sure the groom doesn't get too ploughed at the bachelor party and makes it to the church on time. There are other important duties but these are the two that will save you a tongue lashing from any god-fearing bridezilla.

Another gift fitting for a merry groomsman is the personalized brushed silver tankard, for celebrating after a fruitful brawl...Or as in the immortal words of Tobey Keith, We'll raises up our glasses against evil forces Singing, "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!"

While vacationing in Scotland, we had a history lesson of how all the men in a village were very loyal to the clan (the reigning family of the region). These brave soldiers (or best men) would fight to their death to protect the clan leader. This sounds quite similar to the modern day groomsman, except for the killing part.
History states that the tradition of groomsmen originated in 200 BC with the Germanic Goths. We are lead to believe that at that time there was a shortage of women, so in order to get a bride of your own, you had to steal one from a neighboring village. This is where the best man, usually a brother or best friend would be of assistance. They would help you steal the bride and then stand at the alter with you (with sword ready) to fight off any unwelcome advances from the bride's family that might object.
Nowadays a groomsmen's responsibilities are far less lethal and tend to involve making sure the groom doesn't get too ploughed at the bachelor party and makes it to the church on time. There are other important duties but these are the two that will save you a tongue lashing from any god-fearing bridezilla.
Here are a few fabulous and manly groomsmen gifts to make up for no longer getting to carry a sword. You should be thankful for that, they're heavy.
Our first manly merry groomsman gift is the engraved pocket knife which comes in handy when MacGyver-esk moments are called for. This item can be personalized with each groomsmen's initials.

Pretty Maids All in a Row
Hi all my brides to be:
Last weekend I was at a bridal show and I saw a lot of brides with their maids in tow. In a day and age where reality shows like Bridezilla only show the bad sides that brides can have, it was nice to see these brides sharing an event that should be fun and cherished. These groups of ladies were cheerful, laughing , enjoying the food, camaraderie and the moment.
Bridesmaid, otherwise known as girlfriends, friends, relatives, divine diva's and occasionally a maid's man have been with you through your best and worst and stuck around to either give you a much needed hug or a swift kick in the butt.
The bridesmaid's origin started in early European society when the demons of the spiritual world were believed to try and ruin the happiness of the bride and groom. To fool these demons, the bride and her maids dressed alike so that it was harder for the demons to identify the real bride. This also helped sway any ex-suitors or a groom looking to squire away a bride illegally.
By the end of the Middle Ages, the bride's outfit stood out from her maids dresses, but the attendants dresses continued to look alike in style.
What a job requirement!! Now a days bridesmaid's just need to agree to wear 50lbs of Fuchsia organza, get the bride a latte and hope not to see bridezilla.
Here are some of So Sweet Weddings favorite picks for bridesmaids gifts. How better to tell your best ladies, "Thanks for dodging the medieval demons for me". I am sure when it is their joyous time to get married, you will have their back!
This cute little flask is wrapped in a Magenta Faux Leather Cover with Custom designed Floral Embroidery and Swarovsky Crystals. Not only will this giant chocolate fortune cookie (it's almost the size of a football) sustain her after a hard day, it will also bring good tidings of luck. *Please note these come in many different design and flavor options.
